You’ve built your experience. Now find a practice that values it.
Purposeful Change Psychotherapy is looking for an experienced EMDR Therapist to join our growing practice.
We’re looking for a clinician who has developed genuine depth in complex and developmental trauma, someone who understands that trauma doesn’t always look like trauma. It can show up in relationships, patterns of avoidance, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, disconnection, perfectionism, difficulty trusting, or a nervous system that continues to respond as though the past is still happening.
You know how to work with that complexity.
And you understand that meaningful trauma work requires more than knowing a modality. It requires thoughtful assessment, clinical judgment, careful pacing, and the ability to create enough safety and stability for deeper processing to take place.
If that sounds like the kind of work you care deeply about, we’d like to meet you.
About Purposeful Change
At Purposeful Change, we believe good therapy should lead somewhere.
Our approach is customized, collaborative, and grounded in helping people understand what is keeping them stuck and create meaningful change in their lives and relationships.
We value clinical excellence without rigidity, warmth, and evidence-informed care that recognizes the complexity of each person’s history, relationships, culture, identity, and lived experience.
Our therapists bring different areas of expertise and different approaches to their work, and we share a commitment to thoughtful, purposeful therapy and to continuing to grow as clinicians.
We’ve created a practice where experienced therapists have the autonomy to do meaningful clinical work while still feeling connected, respected, and supported.
The Work You’ll Do
As an EMDR Therapist at Purposeful Change, you’ll work with adults whose past experiences continue to shape how they feel, relate, cope, and move through the world.
Your work may include supporting clients experiencing:
You’ll use EMDR alongside your broader clinical training to thoughtfully assess each client, develop individualized treatment plans, establish appropriate preparation and stabilization, and determine when and how deeper trauma processing should take place.
Because much of this work involves complex and developmental trauma, you’ll be comfortable recognizing when a standard or linear approach to trauma treatment may not reflect the needs of the person in front of you. You’ll understand how attachment, early relationships, repeated experiences, protective adaptations, and nervous system responses can shape both the presentation and the course of treatment.
You’ll be trusted to draw from your training, experience, and clinical judgment to adapt the work to each client’s needs, readiness, history, and goals.
You will also have the opportunity to build your individual psychotherapy caseload beyond trauma-focused work. This will give you the opportunity to work with a diverse range of client needs while continuing to deepen and build your niche area of practice.
You Might Be a Great Fit If You…
You understand that being trauma-informed and doing trauma processing are not the same thing.
You’re comfortable working beyond surface-level coping strategies while recognizing that deeper work can’t be rushed. You know how to assess readiness, recognize when a client needs more stabilization, and adapt your approach when trauma is complex, developmental, relational, or layered.
You understand that EMDR is one part of the therapeutic work, not the entirety of it. You can balance structure with clinical intuition, recognize the importance of the therapeutic relationship, and integrate your understanding of attachment, nervous system responses, protective patterns, and lived experience into treatment.
You value your own professional and clinical development. You value consultation, advanced training, reflection, and learning from other thoughtful clinicians.
You’ll Need:
Additional training and experience in trauma-focused approaches such as Brainspotting, somatic therapies, parts work, attachment-based approaches, or other evidence-informed trauma modalities are considered an asset.
We’re particularly interested in clinicians who have developed meaningful depth through advanced training, clinical experience, ongoing consultation, and continued investment in their trauma work.
