Psychotherapy for Entrepreneurs & Small Business Owners

Small business, big pressure

Behind every startup or small business is a person carrying more than most people see. Therapy helps entrepreneurs and business owners think clearly, manage pressure, stay present in relationships, and build success without sacrificing themselves in the process.

Sound familiar?

The moments you don’t say out loud

Every business owner faces moments that feel hard to name, let alone share. We’ve helped many clients navigate these exact experiences with care, insight, and practical support. You might recognize some of these.

You're stressed, but it runs deeper than that

Many small business owners come to us in a state of overwhelm, running on adrenaline, not quite sure how they got here. What feels like stress is often a nervous system that’s been pushed past its limits for a long time.

Therapy helps you understand what’s actually happening and how to find your way back.

You didn't realize how much had been building up

Most small business owners we work with didn’t see it coming. The sleep got lighter, the anxiety became background noise. You kept going because you could.

Therapy helps you finally understand what your body has been trying to tell you.

The people you love are starting to feel your absence

The phone at the dinner table, the distracted evenings, the version of you that’s somewhere else even when you’re home. When your partner or family start protesting what’s been happening at home, it can be hard to hear. It can also be the most important moment.

Therapy helps you be present, not just physically, but actually there.

Our Approach

Purposeful changes built around your reality

Rather than applying generic templates, we customize therapy around the specific pressures shaping your experiences, what’s driving them, what they’re costing you, and teach skills that help you respond differently. It’s practical, it’s personal, and it’s built around your real life as a business owner.

What the business is costing you

How entrepreneurs benefit from therapy

Therapy for entrepreneurs supports the patterns behind financial stress, burnout, overthinking, self-pressure, and leadership. The work helps you build a steadier way of thinking and responding, so the pressure of the business does not take over how you live.

Why entrepreneurs trust us for therapy

You don’t have to explain it to us

We’ve sat with a lot of entrepreneurs and business owners over the years. We’ve heard what it’s like to carry the weight of a business while trying to show up for the people you love. We know how hard it is to finally ask for help when you’ve spent so long being the one who holds everything together. When you come to us, you don’t have to explain why it’s complicated. We already understand.

Therapy customized to your real life

Running a business doesn’t pause for therapy. Our work is practical, purposeful and built around the realities of your day-to-day. We don’t offer generic coping strategies. We work with you on what’s actually driving the pressure, and build changes that hold inside your business and beyond it.

Support that works around your hours

We offer flexible morning, evening and weekend appointments, online or in-person at our clinics in Vaughan and King City. Whether you’re in the GTA or anywhere across Ontario, therapy can fit around your business, not compete with it.

FAQs about therapy from entrepreneurs

What kinds of issues do entrepreneurs usually bring to therapy?2026-04-15T22:50:53-04:00

The most common areas we see are financial stress and uncertainty, decision fatigue and overthinking, burnout and constant mental load, relationship strain, and identity tied to business performance. These rarely show up in isolation. Most entrepreneurs we work with are dealing with several at once, and what shows up in the business is usually connected to what’s happening personally.

How is psychotherapy different from coaching or consulting?2026-04-15T22:52:27-04:00

Coaching focuses on goals and performance. Consulting focuses on strategy. Therapy focuses on what’s underneath both. How you think under pressure, the emotional patterns that shape your decisions, and the stress that quietly affects your behavior and relationships. A coach can help you build a better plan. A therapist helps you understand why you keep getting in your own way despite having one. If those underlying patterns aren’t addressed, they tend to repeat regardless of how good the strategy is.

Does insurance cover therapy for entrepreneurs or small business owners?2026-04-15T23:00:03-04:00

Most entrepreneurs don’t have traditional employer-sponsored benefits, but there are still several ways therapy can be covered or offset. If you carry a personal or private health insurance plan, therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker is covered by most major providers in Ontario including Canada Life, Manulife, Sun Life and Green Shield. Check your plan to confirm your coverage limits.

If you have a spouse or partner with an extended health plan, you may also be able to access coverage through their benefits. Many entrepreneurs are covered this way without realizing it.

For incorporated business owners, therapy may be eligible as a medical expense through a Health Spending Account. It’s worth a conversation with your accountant to understand what applies to your specific setup.

Many entrepreneurs also choose to pay out of pocket and treat therapy as a direct investment in their clarity, decision-making, and long-term sustainability.
